The last hack
Virtualizing my xp server and hosting wordpress worked out well until a turkish hacker nob found a hole in wordpress. Maybe the hole was in the very old web service itself.
So now I have moved the posts and pictures to wordpress.com. All I really want is a place to keep the posts alive because of the memories even though blogs have tough competion these days.
Thanks to wordpress online I am good to go for a few years more. Sorry virtual server, I must shut you down.
Oh and another milestone is that this post was added from a galaxy tab.

Buckwild Server Hardware Decommissioned.. Now Virtual
I’ve had a blog on this old server for almost a whole decade. If you include how long I used it as a web server maybe it would be closer to 11 or 12 years. WordPress has been running for 6 years.
My attachment to the server must either come to an end or change shape as this old server is failing. Its rebooting a few times a day and it frequently locks up. It is still very useful as a web server for this old blog, a sirius radio media streamer, Tversity movie streamer and as an expendable place to download stuff that could contain viruses. I mean torrents. I would hate to expose my good PCs to likes of torrents.
The good news is that I’ve converted it into a VMware workstation so as a virtual windows XP it can run inside my regular clean fast desktop and still perform all the same functions less the problems and power consumption. This post was submitted using the new virtual workstation!!!
If you are interested in creating your own virtual environment to play around in, trash or convert an old PC with valuable data then perhaps this is the way to go for you.

You can also download a VMware tool that you install on your old PC and it will create the virtual disks for you. Then you need to copy them to you nice and fast Windows 7 machine to run them. I used a copy of Paragon Copy Drive to convert the servers harddrive to virtual drives.
Note that if you want to run your virtual pcs as a service (running all the time) then you will need to get a copy of VMWare workstation 7.

Oh you old wordpress
Im now Back up with some new crappy theme.
This site is really for historical value and I get a kick out of running it on a pentium 4 I built back in 2001 that has been running for 9 straight years.
So I lost some posts too. I was smart to create a wordpress2 database a year ago, last time I upgraded, but I wasn’t smart enough to add the new DB to the backup job so I was backing up wordpress1 all this time.
I restored that DB over the second one and voila… a bunch of posts gone forever.
Cheers,
Deny

New Blog Theme and WordPress version
Folks, mainly friends,
I’ve upgraded my site and the theme. Tell me what you think.
Visit the Beta version and tell me what you think.

And in the previous blog entry someone has asked if I would sell my domain name.
Should I sell and how much? Ideas?

Xbox Revamp
The new xbox software update is pretty slick. Looks like it was designed to compete with the Nintendo Wii interface. Those with xbox 360 who have not turned them on in a while… get on that.
You can also use Tversity to stream all your favorite shows and movies, in HD, to you TV.

Raid Controller Gone
Well I think I need a new computer/server soon as my Raid Controller blew a shoe. The whole system does not want to boot unless I disable the controller. 😦
Luckily I have Lacie on my side and all the wordpress files were backed up so that I could bring to you BUCKWILD !!!! (Brought to you with ZERO redundancy and usually shut down between 11PM and 730AM)
Talk to you soon.
PS. Looking for a powerful laptop soon… would like the finger print reader built in.
